My extra model this month is Khador's "Butcher of Khardov".

Rising from a millenia of sleep, the Necron Lord Khaldun leads his warriors on a single minded crusade to purge all that stands in their way from the galaxy.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

With powers fully restored, Lord Khaldun continues his preparations to bring war to the Imperium of Man.

Knowing that victory cannot be gained on foot alone, he awakens a trio of Destroyers to provide a base of mobile heavy fire support, as well as a unit of Wraiths who will move incorporeally and unhindered through the battlefield, bringing death to all those that oppose Khaldun’s will.

Artillery is sometimes refered to as "The Queen of the Battlefield". In WWII, almost all nationalities employed artillery to some degree, the US Army was no exception.

Fielding both fixed guns and mobile armored Self Propelled Guns, artillery supported both regular infanty and armored infantry units as they blazed their way through the islands of the Pacific as well as the fields and mountains of Europe and North Africa.

In Flames of War, a gun battery utilizes a staff team to coordinate fire as well as spotter to range in the guns on their targets. The US Army had especially effective communications and in the game, if the spotter is eliminated any platoon leader or company second-in-command can assume the roll of spotter without penalties.

I really liked this kit because the gun bases came molded with the ground contour, pre-made holes to fit the bases of the crew, as well as the spent casings and ammo crates. Much easier than having to do the extra modeling. The spotter and staff team ground effects are hand done with a pre-made pumice product from Vallejo paints.

Thanks Jen! Although their small scale is quite taxing on the eyes, their lack of fine details make them a bit easier to paint.
