X-Wing Updated FAQ

Some highlights:

If Omega Leader has a target lock on a ship with a Heavy Laser Cannon, it actually makes the HLC better.
Youngster's ability applies to both TIE Fighters and TIE/Fo ships.
TIE V/1 upgrades only work on the Prototype Advanceds. TIE X/1 upgrades only work on the regular TIE Advanceds.
The Inquisitor's ability has been clarified to ignore range bonuses for defending, add range bonuses for attacking, turn off Autothrusters, and basically do nothing else of note.

The biggest part though is the fixing of Tractor Beams. RAW, the Tractor Beam movement doesn't count as a maneuver and the penalties for crashing in to obstacles only matter when you end a maneuver or a maneuver template overlaps the obstacle. Now, being flung in to a rock or whatever specifically impacts you just like you would expect it should - you roll for damage, you can't shoot, and any actions you're granted are actions you can't take. Tractor Beams are super nasty.

so what does THIS mean? Seems confusing and contradictory. Am I missing something?

Q: If a ship has a turret primary weapon (or is equipped with
a secondary weapon), is the ship considered to have a
360-degree firing arc?
A: No. Turret primary and secondary weapons allow a ship to ignore its
printed firing arcs. A ship’s firing arcs are always the printed, shaded arcs
on its ship token.

It's saying each ship has a firing arc printed on its chit that you use. For example, even though the Millenium Falcon has a primary turret weapon, if you look on its chit there is still a defined firing arc printed on it.

Some mechanics specifically interact with "when you are in so and so's firing arc". That elaboration is just saying mechanics like that don't care if you have a turret equipped, even though it fires 360 degrees.

OK. I get it that it's a definition of 'firing arc'. But the turret can still execute a 360 attack, yes?

Yes, but that doesn't count as its firing arc. Confusing eh?

The two are separate rules. The rules packets makes it very clear. Like the rules the Millennium Falcon comes with:

"When attacking with a turret primary weapon, a ship may target an enemy ship inside or outside its firing arc. When attacking with a secondary weapon, the ship must still attack a ship inside its firing arc (unless specified otherwise on the upgrade card)."

So you can see the primary turret ignores arcs for choosing a target. But it's important to know the arc still exists, because it affects secondary weapons, and a few other rules too.
