What -- Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition Tournament, 2,000 points
When -- Saturday, September 16th, 11:00AM
Registration -- Begins at 10:30
Where -- Off the Wall Games, Hadley, MA
Entry Fee -- $15 - $10 goes to Prize Support, $5 goes to Pizza Lunch
Number of players -- Max Slots - 16
List Submission/Paypal: offthewallgamestore@gmail.com

The tournament will last three rounds of two hours and fifteen minutes each, with an hour break for lunch after the first round. Prizes will be awarded in the form of store credit to Off the Wall. Number of prizes and amount of prizes will be determined on the day of the tournament, and are solely determined by attendance and GW Quarterly Support.

If you would like to register early to reserve your spot you must e-mail your list to use and send your payment to paypal or pay for the tournament in the store. I will try to keep this list up to date. You may change your list as many times as you want up until Saturday 9/9 at 11:59. After that time we will not be taking list changes unless your list is invalid.

We will be running this tournament using the NOVA Open Tournament Rules. You can find the Tournament Rules here:

https://novaopen.sharepoint.com/_layout ... ction=view

I will also paste this snippit here as it is the most important in the document and contains their deviations from standard 40k Rules:

1. After deployment, before rolling to Seize the Initiative, both players roll off to determine who goes first. The player who finished deploying first adds "1" to this roll. This roll may not be re-rolled using Stratagems. Proceed with Seizing the Initiative and beginning the game (also any abilities or special rules occurring after Seizing the Initiative but before the game begins).

2. Understrength Units may only be included within Auxiliary Support Detachments.

3. You may not use a Command Re-Roll when Seizing the Initiative or determing End of Game.

4. Every mission uses Random Game Length just as with the Core Eternal War/Maelstrom missions. The player who went first rolls at the end of each Battle Round, starting with Battle Round 5. This roll may not be re-rolled for any reason. On Battle Round 5, the game ends if a 1-2 is rolled. On Battle Round 6, the game ends if a 1-3 is rolled. The game ends after Battle Round 7 at the latest.

5. Sudden Death – If a player suffers "Sudden Death" due to "Boots on the Ground" and only having Flyer models in play, they are considered to have lost. Players may win under any other circumstance (I.e. even if their models are all destroyed) if they've accumulated sufficient points to exceed their opponent's total. That said, all games should be played out to their logical conclusion even if no opposing models are in play. Players do not earn an automatic 19 points simply by achieving Sudden Death.

We will be adding the following changes from the NOVA and 40k Rules:

1) We will not be allowing Forge World Models in this tournament. We will allow Forge World in future tournaments, we just want to reduce confusion as 8th Edition has just come out

2) All Troop units will have "Objective Secured" per the announced changes coming in Chapter Approved. This means that when you are looking to decide who controls an objective you first look at who has more models worth of troops, and if neither side does, you then look at number of models from other choices.

3) We will only use 3 of the 4 Missions from the packet. We will not be announcing which 3 missions we will be running, so plan accordingly.

The NOVA packet does not describe how the event is scored, so we will be doing the following:

1) Prizes will be paid out to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Best Painted. Best Painted will be equal to 2nd place. Depending on attendance, there may be door prizes in addition to the top 4.

2) 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be determined first by Win/Loss record, then by Differential, then by Total Points scored. However, we will also be adding a Painting Adjustment to the Differential and Total Points Scored. This painting score will be scored 1-10. If you score 1-4 points, you gain +1 Differential, 5-7 +2 Differential, and 8-10 +3 Differential. This painting rubric will be as follows. You score one of the items from the first block, and can score each of the items in the second block. Please note: This rubric is designed to give you all 10 points if your army is painted and based. This will be judged somewhat liberally and is meant to punish bare plastic armies.

Entire army (80%)
+3 - Army painted to 3 Color Standard
+5 - Army Painted beyond 3 Color Standard

Painted Models
+1 - Clean Basecoats
+1 - Basic/Clean Highlighting
+1 - Details are cleaning painted (belts, buckles, eyes, etc)
+1 - Models are based
+1 - Army has a coherent theme, not a mix of styles, good presentation

3) Best Painted will not use the above Rubric, but will use a more complicated version of this. This will be posted once it is completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Can I paint an army in 2 weeks? Hmm...

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
